What do you get when you combine turkey duck chicken ????

TURDUCKEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I came across this word when discussing various foods with my friend and one of my friends mentioned " turducken " ... And I asked what it was and he said it was a turkey stuffed with duck and chicken . And I was like what ??? I mean I know if something like that existed I would be aware of it ..so I argued ooo .. Well last night I was watching a food channel and it was showing the history of thanksgiving . And all of a sudden " turducken came up on the screen " I started laughing ... and could not believe I lost the bet . It looked like a hectic process because you have to slice open the turkey a certain way , spice it up , and then stuff it with duck then de-boned chicken ... TALK ABOUT MEAT OVERLOAD RIGHT ????????????? Well so I searched for it on the Internet and found some images .. so the image below is what it looks like when it is stuffed but not cooked ...

(GOOGLE IMAGES)
And the one below is how it looks when it is cut open and cooked .....

( GOOGLE IMAGES )
So would you guys try the recipe .... or does it seem too hectic ? I am going to try and make it ... Not this thanksgiving ooo . ....Or maybe I should and see what my visitors would say ..I do not think it would sit well with my sis and cousin ... will see... That is it ..so let me know if you guys have heard of this before ...if anyone has tried it etc.. thanks ...Have a FAB THANKSGIVING !!!!!!!!!

Young Nigerians making an Impact

Hello ,

I am actually in my Project management class blogging !!!! ..... Oh well .This week has been crazy . Something occurred earlier in the week that bruised my ego ..mmm..should I write about it ? I think I will think about putting personal stuff out there ..will see. ANYWAYS ..... It just occurred to me that I did not vote for the Futures awards ... And I had the perfect candidate in mind .... So I decided to dedicate this post to young Nigerians making an impact ... I was going to nominate Damilola Amolegbe of Haute magazine . I am not going to sit here and claim we re best of friends or anything . I got to know Damilola when my Haute magazine I ordered did not arrive . I remember her sending me a message or I sent a message ..cannot remember .. I think i sent a message inquiring about my order on the website . I had already crossed out anyone getting back to me and assumed it was another " yeye " naija business .. Well I was so wrong o .. Damilola herself sent me a message and inquired about the problem and the next day i received my HAUTE magazine ... It did not stop there o .. She sent another message to make sure I had received it .... I was extremely impressed by the response and also the follow-up .. So everyone subscribe to HAUTE magazine and support young and upcoming Nigerians .... You can get information about the magazine on the site " http://www.fashionnigeria.com/ " So who else do you know that is making an impact ??

That reminds me the " CATWALK THE WORLD " in support with the United Nations World Food Programme is in London Tommorrow till the 18th for all You london Folks .... Jollof Rice and Chicken Cacciatore

Ingredients for Jollof Rice

1 pound parboiled rice
1 can tomato puree-400 grams

1 onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic

4 teaspoons olive oil

6 small or 3 large red bell peppers, seeded and sliced

1 bunch thyme, leaves picked

1 teaspoon white pepper

8 chicken bouillon cubes (recommended: Maggi )

Ingredients For Chicken Cacciatore

4 skinless chicken breast halves on the bone, about 2 pounds

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

2 teaspoons olive oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 red bell pepper,

thinly sliced 1/2 pound white mushrooms,

thinly sliced 2 garlic cloves,

minced 1/2 cup dry white wine 1 (14 1/2-ounce)

can whole tomatoes in juice, chopped and juice reserved

1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano

1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes or more, to taste

cayenne pepper or ground red pepper

Directions for Jollof Rice

Heat two tablespoons of oil in a large skillet. Stir-fry the chicken (or beef) in the oil until it is browned on all sides. Remove the meat from the oil and set aside.

Add the onions, the salt, cayenne pepper or ground red pepper, and fry the mixture until the onions begin to become tender. Remove the onion mixture from the skillet and set aside with the meat.

In a dutch oven or large covered saucepan, bring the broth and two cups of water to a simmer. Place the meat and onion mixture into the dutch oven and cover.
In the same skillet used for the meat and onions, stir-fry the tomatoes and one or two of the vegetable add-ins.

Continue frying the mixture until the vegetables are partly cooked, then add them to the meat, onions, and broth in the dutch oven.

Again in the same skillet, combine the rice and the tomato paste. Over low heat, stir until the rice is evenly coated with the tomato paste. The rice should end up a pink-orange color. Add the rice to the dutch oven and stir gently.

Cover the dutch oven and cook the mixture over a low heat until the rice is done and the vegetables are tender (maybe half an hour). Stir gently occasionally and check to see that the bottom of the pot does not become completely dry. Add warm water or broth (a quarter cup at a time) as necessary to help rice cook. Adjust seasoning as needed. If desired, add one of the meat add-ins while the dish is cooking. (Shrimp cook very quickly and should not be over-cooked or they will become tough )

Directions for Chicken Cacciatore

Rinse the chicken and pat dry with paper towels. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Heat the oil in a saute pan over moderately high heat. Brown the chicken on both sides, about 8 minutes. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside. Reduce the heat to moderate. Add the onion and pepper, cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook, uncovered and stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms begin to brown. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds. Add the wine and cook until reduced by half. Add the tomatoes and juice, oregano, red pepper flakes and 1/4 teaspoon of salt and simmer the mixture covered for 10 minutes.
Return the chicken breasts to the pan and simmer, covered, until the chicken is just done, about 20 minutes longer.
